Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is ‘a huge fan’ of Timo Werner

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has a ‘serious interest’ in RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner and is plotting a huge bid to sign him this summer.

Reports claim the Reds boss is on the hunt for a first class frontman to spearhead his attack, and has identified Werner as his number one target.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form for Leipzig this season, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists in 25 league appearances.

And, according to Bild, Klopp is ‘a huge fan’ of Werner and is so keen to land him this summer that the Premier League side are preparing a £87million bid for his services.

It is also claimed the Liverpool boss is in contact with Werner’s agent, Karlheinz Forster.

Werner still has two years left to run on his contract at Leipzig, which expires in 2020, but the Bundesliga side are thought to be seeking to extend his deal ahead of this summer’s World Cup, where he is expected to start in the Germany team.
